Probate and Estate Administration

M. Lyons Law Group provides probate and estate administration services to clients throughout the greater Southeastern Pennsylvania area. We represent executors and administrators throughout the entire course of the probate process, from initial appointment to the completion of the estate administration, including the preparation of all state and federal tax returns.

Probate is the court-supervised process of gathering and inventorying a deceased person’s property, paying all debts and taxes owed and distributing any remaining property to decedent’s beneficiaries. If you are an executor or administrator, our firm will help you inventory and value the decedent’s property and assets and assist you in gathering all documents that may be necessary to probate the estate. We will explain your responsibilities and work with you to make sure that the decedent’s last wishes are properly carried out. Our lawyers will also help you to take full advantage of Pennsylvania’s inheritance tax discount available for early tax payments. Once the assets of the estate are accounted for and distributed, we will file all necessary documents to close the estate.

Probate and estate administration can be a lengthy and complicated process. If you have been named the executor or administrator of an estate, the attorneys at our firm will guide you every step of the way. No matter how complex or routine the estate may be, we will provide straightforward answers to your questions and work to resolve any issues that may surface during the probate process.

While probate and estate administration is generally a smooth process, challenges and objections over the management and distribution of the estate can arise. While we will attempt to negotiate and settle these disputes as quickly and peacefully as possible, our attorneys are seasoned trial lawyers who are fully prepared to protect our clients’ interests in court should litigation become unavoidable.
